Peoria Production Solutions (PPS) is a fully self-sustaining, not-for-profit company, whose mission is to provide employment to people with disabilities by producing high-quality goods and services.
Beth Dailey, CFO at Peoria Production Solutions, knew the company had to automate to continue growing its mission of providing jobs to persons with disabilities. Manually recording and then keying in thousands of transactions per month was limiting the company’s ability to add new customers, new products, and most importantly, new employees.
Beth states, “It would take 72 hours per truckload just to record and enter inventory into our system so that we would know what materials we had. We needed an automation solution that would be very easy for the end user and streamline our processes.”
After looking at Scanco’s WMS solution and meeting with the Scanco team, PPS really liked what they saw and appreciated how it worked with their existing Sage ERP solution.
According to Jeremiah Brown, Operations Manager at PPS, “Without Scanco and automating our processes, we were not as efficient for our customers. Now we get real-time inventory in hours instead of days.”
PPS operations are more organized and the ability to pull kits is much more streamlined and efficient. Additionally, there are now more opportunities for the employees who are excited to get to learn and use the Scanco automation tools. “It provides a steppingstone in their growth and a way for them to see their accomplishments,” added Jeremiah. “They can also see our growth which is exciting for them. We now handle multi-million dollars’ worth of inventory on a monthly basis.”
Scanco’s ease of use has been a key factor in employee adoption. The system is application based and has a familiar feeling, making it comfortable to learn. It can also be audio-controlled using talk to text which is well leveraged with PPS’s employee population.
Beth and Jeremiah agreed that there is no way PPS could maintain the inventory they have now using the system they had two years ago. “We couldn’t have advanced without a system like this and Scanco was a huge part of that.”
The PPS team members also love Scanco.
Tara, a line manager, especially appreciates the amount of time Scanco saves and the voice activation function. “Being able to scan instead of writing is amazing. We had legibility issues in the past. Now the account numbers are always correct. Additionally, our visually impaired staff really appreciate the voice activation capabilities. That is a huge advantage at PPS.”
Mark, a warehouse picker, stated, “Scanco is so easy to learn! It’s intuitive and the interface makes sense. It’s incredibly time saving with warehouse picking.”
Tyler, a line lead, stated, “It’s made my job 100% easier. It’s more efficient, less time consuming, more accurate, and less tedious. The notifications feature is great and keeps us on task with warehouse transfers to bins and inquiries.”
