OVERVIEW

However, challenges with an older warehouse management system were causing serious inaccuracies in their inventory tracking.

MAKING MANUAL INVENTORY CHECKS A THING OF THE PAST

According to company COO, Steven Huang, “The old system was simply not accurate enough. We needed inventory to be tracked with automation to get the accuracy we expected, which meant making a change.” While there were several options that worked with their Sage100 ERP solution, Fornida ultimately chose Scanco Warehouse.

In addition to Scanco’s license plate feature which allows for pallet identification, the other key determining reason Fornida chose it is that the software runs off Android or IOS. “In our old system, the handhelds were not very portable. With Scanco’s handhelds, the scanning gun can be detached from the handheld and having the flexibility of using Android or IOS was very appealing,” stated Steven.

Implementing Scanco Warehouse was quick and easy. It’s very simple to use and, after being up and running consistently for a few days, everyone felt comfortable and familiar with it. Fornida was able to track many more items than before as a result of automating with Scanco. Even with the increased volume, the staff realized time savings as they no longer needed to do manual inventory checks.

“If something is in stock and tracked with Scanco, we know it’s here,” proclaimed Steven. “Having to check stock manually has decreased drastically, and that is only on items that haven’t been added to our Scanco system.” One of the unintended benefits of implementing Scanco is that the scanner can be used to take a photo of each shipment. Now, the company has proof orders were shipped and packaged correctly should the client have any issues.

Fornida is now working on extending its use of the barcoding software and the Scanco team has been very helpful. “The team is more than willing to sit and help us resolve issues. Everyone that I’ve worked with at Scanco has been really, really great and so helpful and knowledgeable.”
