Since its inception in 1989, Nokomis, FL-based Scanco Software has made it a mission to develop operations technologies for manufacturing and distribution companies around the globe.
However, for a few nights every December, Scanco turns its focus on helping neighbors in need.
Gift-Giving Program for Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties
For the last several years, Scanco has organized a Holiday gift-giving program to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties‘ youth. Scanco team members shopped for presents at a local Walmart to give to dozens of area BGCSDC children, derived from ‘wish lists’ submitted by the youths. Armed with a Scanco credit card, team members purchased, wrapped and delivered gifts to the youth in an effort to give back to the community and bring smiles to kids’ faces during the Holiday season.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties has been one of the leading youth development organizations in the Cultural Coast since 1970. Thousands of kids and teens ages 6-18 across both counties depend on BGCSDC to access critical out-of-school and summer programs that empower them to achieve their full potential. The organization is dedicated to helping every individual Club member succeed, before and after high school graduation, through its slate of programs that inspire them to excel in school, become leaders in their communities, practice healthy habits, explore career paths, and grow into productive adults who make meaningful impact.
Our Scanco team was overjoyed to continue its tradition of a gift-buying spree for the Boys & Girls Clubs, followed by gift-wrapping at the office. After wrapping, team members Paul Carreiro and Ali Kensil delivered the gifts to BCGSDC as part of the organization’s Holiday party, which featured games, a temporary tattoo station, snacks, and gift giveaways.
Every Holiday season, the Scanco team looks forward to this program, and is grateful for the opportunity to give back. “Just knowing that we’re doing even a small part to bring joy to local disadvantaged families at a special time of the year means so much to us,” said Andrew Nunez, President & CEO of Scanco. “No child should go without a gift to open during the Holiday season.”
Scanco’s Outreach to Feed Haitian Children
Meanwhile, our Minneapolis team made an impact up north this Holiday season by hand-packing meals for Feed My Starving Children, a Minnesota-based nonprofit founded in 1987 that coordinates the packaging and distribution of food to people in more than 70 developing nations. This year, Scanco’s food gathering and packaging efforts provided essential support to needy children in Haiti.
Of eight packing facilities throughout the U.S., three of Feed My Starving Children’s facilities are located in Minnesota. Together with its sister foundation, Kids Against Hunger, the two organizations feed over 1 billion children annually.
In total, Scanco’s collective 2024 Holiday efforts contributed $7,500 to help its local communities. We are truly thankful for the opportunity to support those in need, as the Holidays remind us of the power of giving, reflecting, and making a difference in the lives of others.
